Well, you might lose your employees’ trust if you drop a drug screening program on them out of nowhere, especially if you are a startup that only has a handful to a dozen employees. That is why it’s important to put a policy in place from the very beginning, but that, of course, might not be in the budget for every startup. Of course, things like invasion of privacy and law-related issues come into play as well, which is why business owners have to really do their homework if they plan on bringing drug testing into the mix.
